The Department of Orthopedics of Naogaon Medical College is a major clinical department of the institution and plays an essential role in undergraduate medical education and musculoskeletal healthcare. Since the establishment of the college, the department has been actively involved in teaching, clinical service, and training of future medical graduates in the field of orthopedics.

The department is responsible for teaching Orthopedics to MBBS students during their clinical years. Teaching focuses on the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal disorders, trauma care, fractures, joint diseases, spinal conditions, and rehabilitation, with emphasis on clinical examination skills, emergency management, and evidence-based practice.

The Department of Orthopedics is staffed with qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty members, supported by medical officers, residents, nursing staff, physiotherapists, and trained technical personnel. Academic and clinical activities are conducted in a structured and disciplined manner in accordance with the curriculum prescribed by the relevant authority.

Clinical teaching is carried out through bedside teaching, ward rounds, emergency and trauma postings, outpatient services, operation theater exposure, case presentations, tutorials, seminars, and lectures. Students gain practical exposure in fracture management, plaster techniques, and preoperative and postoperative orthopedic care under proper supervision.

The department is supported by well-equipped orthopedic wards, trauma and emergency services, outpatient clinics, operation theaters, and rehabilitation facilities. Modern teaching aids, including multimedia presentations and audiovisual equipment, are regularly used to enhance effective teaching and learning.
