Department of Biochemistry

The Department of Biochemistry of Naogaon Medical College is one of the core basic science departments of the institution. The department plays a crucial role in providing foundational knowledge of the biochemical processes essential for understanding human health and disease.

The department is responsible for teaching Biochemistry to undergraduate MBBS students of 1st and 2nd professional examinations. Biochemistry is an essential basic subject that bridges basic medical sciences with clinical practice by explaining the molecular and metabolic basis of normal physiological functions and disease processes.

The Department of Biochemistry provides instruction in cell biology, enzymes, metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins, molecular biology, genetics, nutrition, hormones, acid–base balance, and clinical biochemistry. Emphasis is given to laboratory-based learning and clinical correlation to enhance students’ analytical and diagnostic understanding.
