The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics of Naogaon Medical College is one of the core basic medical science departments of the institution. The department plays a vital role in teaching the principles of drug action and rational use of medicines, which are essential for safe and effective medical practice.
The department is responsible for teaching Pharmacology and Therapeutics to undergraduate MBBS students of 2nd professional examination in accordance with the approved curriculum. Pharmacology is an essential basic subject that provides knowledge on the mechanisms of action, therapeutic uses, adverse effects, contraindications, and rational prescribing of drugs.
The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics provides instruction in general pharmacology, autonomic and central nervous system pharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, chemotherapy, endocrine pharmacology, gastrointestinal pharmacology, and clinical pharmacology, with emphasis on rational drug use and patient safety.
The department is staffed with qualified and experienced faculty members and supported by trained academic and technical personnel. Academic activities are conducted in a structured manner following the guidelines of the relevant authority.
The department has a well-equipped and adequately furnished laboratory to support practical teaching and demonstration classes. Modern teaching methods, including multimedia presentations and audiovisual aids, are regularly used to enhance student learning and understanding.
