The Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Naogaon Medical College is one of the major clinical departments of the institution and plays a crucial role in undergraduate medical education and maternal healthcare. Since the establishment of the college, the department has been actively involved in teaching, clinical service, and training of future medical graduates in women’s health.

The department is responsible for teaching Gynaecology and Obstetrics to MBBS students during their clinical years. Teaching focuses on antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, management of normal and high-risk pregnancies, and diagnosis and treatment of common gynaecological conditions, with emphasis on patient safety, ethical practice, and evidence-based medicine.

The Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics is staffed with qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty members, supported by medical officers, residents, nursing staff, and trained technical personnel. Academic and clinical activities are conducted in a systematic and disciplined manner following the curriculum prescribed by the relevant authority.

Clinical teaching is carried out through bedside teaching, ward rounds, labor room postings, operation theater exposure, outpatient services, case presentations, tutorials, seminars, and lectures. Students are provided with ample opportunities to observe and participate in the management of obstetric and gynaecological cases under proper supervision.

The department is supported by well-equipped maternity wards, gynecology wards, labor rooms, outpatient clinics, and operation theaters with necessary facilities for both routine and emergency services. Modern teaching aids, including multimedia presentations and audiovisual equipment, are regularly used to enhance effective learning.
