Description

The Department of Ophthalmology of Naogaon Medical College is a key clinical department focused on eye care, vision health, and the management of ocular diseases. This department plays an important role in undergraduate medical education, providing MBBS students with essential knowledge, clinical skills, and practical training in ophthalmology.

The department offers comprehensive academic and clinical training covering the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of common and advanced eye conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, refractive errors, conjunctivitis, corneal diseases, and ocular emergencies. Emphasis is given to evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, and patient-centered care to prepare students for real-world medical challenges.

Clinical teaching is conducted through outpatient department (OPD) exposure, bedside teaching, case presentations, tutorials, and interactive lectures. Students gain hands-on experience in essential ophthalmic procedures, including visual acuity assessment, fundoscopy, and slit-lamp examination, enhancing their diagnostic and clinical capabilities.

Currently, the Department of Ophthalmology is in a developing phase and does not have permanent faculty members. However, academic and clinical activities are effectively conducted through visiting consultants, specialist doctors, and trained clinical staff, ensuring uninterrupted learning opportunities for students.

The department is supported by essential diagnostic facilities and outpatient services, enabling practical exposure to a wide range of eye conditions. Modern teaching methods, including digital presentations and clinical demonstrations, are used to improve student engagement and understanding.

The Department of Ophthalmology at Naogaon Medical College is committed to academic excellence, quality medical education, and the development of skilled, ethical, and compassionate healthcare professionals dedicated to improving eye health in the community.
